Gifting Back With Concord Free Press
Earlier in year one of our loyal, incredible customers told us about Concord Free Press. It is a non-profit organization that publishes just a few amazing titles a year and distributes those books FREE to participating booksellers. We, in turn, give the books FREE to customers. Concord's only request is that the 'customer' makes a volubntary donation to a charity or someone in need and then post that donation on Concord's website.
We will be giving out Concord's newest book, A HANDBOOK OF AMERICAN PRAYERby Lucius Shephard as long as supplies last. We will collect voluntary donations in ths store for the Ulster Literacy Association this year but you can choose to give to whomever you wish.
Resonating with the best of Nathanael West, Herman Melville, and David Foster Wallace, A Handbook of American Prayeris a profound, moving novel lit by the sputtering spotlight of fame.
"Satire is rarely moving. And A Handbook of American Prayer is. Shepard views all his characters' foibles and weaknesses and stupidity with an utterly clear eye and a consistently forgiving heart."
-Russell Banks, author of The Lost Memory of Skin,
