Glaring Omissions with Alison Gaylin, Jenny Milchman and Violet Snow

In this reading series, the Glaring Omissions writers group invites local authors to share the stage with group members who read from work-in-progress and other writings.

This evening's readings will feature mystery/suspense writer Alison Gaylin, thriller novelist Jenny Milchman and G.O. member and journalist Violet Snow.

Alison Gaylin is the USA Today bestselling, Shamus Award-winning author of seven novels. She's been nominated for the Edgar, Anthony, International Thriller Writers, and RT Book awards. Her eighth novel -- Stay With Me, published by HarperCollins in June 2013 -- is the third in the Brenna Spector suspense series, about a private investigator blessed (and cursed) with perfect autobiographical memory. Alison, who lives in Woodstock, will be reading from Stay With Me.

Jenny Milchman is a suspense writer whose debut novel, Cover of Snow, was released by Ballantine earlier this year, and whose follow-up, RUIN FALLS, comes out in April. Jenny is the founder of Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day. She settled in Phoenicia after living on the road with her family for a seven-month/35,000-mile book tour. She'll be reading the first scene from Cover of Snow, as well as talking about life on the road, and the far longer road to getting published!

The reading is curated by Glaring Omissions member Violet Snow, who writes for Woodstock Times, Civil War Times, Energy Times, and other periodicals. Her recent article about her great-great-grandfather's Civil War diary appeared on the New York Times “Disunion” blog. She is writing a book about her ancestors as well as two mystery novels. She will read from The Markswoman's House: A Viv Moon, Realtor, Mystery.

The Glaring Omissions, founded in 1990, is the longest-running writers group in the Hudson Valley. The members are professional writers from diverse backgrounds who work in multiple genres, from mysteries to memoirs to literary fiction. They seek to bring writing into public spaces, both to “test-drive” work-in-progress, as well as to bring active readers and writers into community.

Come and listen to some great writers read their work! It's always amazing.
